George Williams is a dynamic technologist, award-winning entrepreneur, and media producer whose work bridges the gap between digital innovation and community empowerment. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Project Media Zone, a Bronx-based nonprofit media hub dedicated to equipping underserved residents—especially youth and aspiring content creators—with the tools and training needed to tell their own stories and uplift their communities through media. George is also the Founder of Digitoral Media Productions, a video production venture that captures compelling stories through branded content, documentaries, and digital series. He specializes in fast-paced, interview-based video production using top-tier equipment and post-production workflows, while also teaching others how to produce high-impact content.
With roots in the IT industry, George launched his tech career as a Microsoft
Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), managing enterprise communication
systems for Fortune 100 companies like Pfizer, Unilever, and Thomas J. Lipton. He
later founded Ujamaa Communications and OpenChoice IT Services,
pioneering affordable technology solutions for Harlem-based businesses and
nonprofits.
His passion for education and equity led him to roles as a technology trainer for
CAMBA, Operation Hope, and NYC Parks, where he empowered hundreds of
small business owners, immigrants, and young people with digital literacy and
entrepreneurship tools. His impact was recognized with the Project Enterprise
Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
In recent years, George has combined his IT background with media production to
meet a new need: preparing communities of color to not only participate in the
digital economy, but to own their narratives. His production credentials include
work with BRIC Arts Media, BronxNet, DCTV, and NY1’s Cheryl Wills, and
his church media work with Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church has created
impactful worship experiences post-COVID.
George is currently building a mobile studio using a Sprinter van to expand his
reach across New York City and beyond, aiming to train and equip more creatives
through on-the-go media workshops and community events.
